2005 Luxury Living Award – Gold
Most Beautiful Living Room
High Rise Luxury
This project was part of a total renovation of a 35th floor of a high rise building in Boston. Intricate cherry wood detailing is now featured in much of the interior with tray ceilings and ceiling domes with accent lighting. Special consideration and technical solutions were needed to allow for building sway. Engineered expansion joints systems within the ceiling structure were constructed to prevent cracking due to the movement of the building. A decorative custom painted fabric was applied into the coffered ceiling, complementing the rich tones of the wood, finishes and fabric. |

Fluted columns with hand carved capitols at the main entry foyer into the living room shares architectural detailing with the pediment style wall unit. The large built-in wall unit was designed and custom fabricated for audiovisual equipment. The wall unit features retracting doors, leaded-glass doors display cabinets, and screened doors for sound distribution. Fluted pilasters are topped with dentil details and triangular Grecian-style pediments. A multi-step stain and glazing technique was applied to the cherry wood to create an aged, antique look.
Two custom storage cabinets flank one wall of the living room. Each cabinet features a decorative faux finish with Asian themed detailed paintings. A hidden wet bar is built into one of the cabinets. |
