Woodmeister Master Builders Marks 30th Anniversary Milestone

(January 5, 2010) Holden, Mass - Woodmeister Master Builders, an award-winning company known nationwide for its fine cabinetry and interiors, luxury home construction, and lifestyle management services, today marks its 30th anniversary. Started in 1980 as a two-man millwork shop in Worcester, Woodmeister is now a $50 million corporation with over 150 employees. In addition to its 70,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Holden, the company has offices in Nantucket, Newport, RI, and New York City.

The Boston Globe names Woodmeister Master Builders to
Globe 100’s Top Places to Work ‘09

(November 9, 2009) Holden, Mass – Woodmeister Master Builders has been named one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts in the second annual employee-based survey project from The Boston Globe. The Globe 100’s Top Places to Work ’09 magazine was published in the Sunday Globe on November 8. Online, the report can be found at www.boston.com/topworkplaces.

Produced by the same team that compiles the 22-year-old Globe 100 report of the best-performing public companies in Massachusetts, the Top Places to Work recognizes the most progressive companies in the state based on employee opinions about company leadership, compensation and training, diversity/inclusion, career development, family-friendly flexibility, and values and ethics. Private companies and nonprofits as well as publicly-held businesses were included in the analysis. Woodmeister was ranked 14th on the overall list and 4th on the 40 Top Small Employers list.

Wall Street Journal Announces Woodmeister Master Builders is
2009 Top Small Workplace

Woodmeister Master Builders has been selected a 2009 Top Small Workplace by the The Wall Street Journal and Winning Workplaces, a non-profit organization that helps small and mid-size companies improve their workplace practices.

The announcement was made in the Journal Report on Small Business section of September 28, 2009 Wall Street Journal. This is the third year in a row the business publication has teamed up with Winning Workplaces to identify fifteen small employers who have built some of the most exemplary, innovative workplaces. The awards will be presented on October 1 at the Winning Workplaces conference in Chicago.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Woodmeister’s commitment to developing leaders at all levels of its workforce sets it apart from other companies. In 2003 the firm launched an intensive leadership-training initiative that provides private and group coaching to ten employees from a cross-section of the company every year. Participants learn skills in time, stress, and change management, life/work balance, people and team management, and goal setting.

Woodmeister Receives Prestigious SHARP Award

Officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) presented its distinguished Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) award to Woodmeister Master Builders at the company’s manufacturing facility in Holden. The company’s 120 Holden-based employees were joined by local dignitaries, including State Representative Lewis Evangelidis, who read a congratulatory citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

SHARP is the highest honor OSHA awards to small worksites that demonstrate an exemplary commitment to workplace safety and health. Since 1995 fewer than 1,200 worksites in the country have shared the honor of the SHARP distinction. Woodmeister is the sixteenth company in Massachusetts, and the third in Worcester County, to receive the award.
